INKWHO GUIDE
Can AI writing detectors be wrong?
Yes. A writing score can help you decide what to look at more closely, but it cannot establish who wrote a text.
What an AI Writing Score tells you
InkWho uses a 0–100 scale to describe AI-like writing patterns. A score of 80 does not mean that 80% of the words were written by AI, or that there is an 80% chance the author used AI.
Two kinds of mistakes
A detector can flag human writing as AI-like, or miss text that was generated by AI. Short text, editing, mixed authorship and different writing styles can make results harder to interpret.
Why text coverage matters
Always check how much text was analyzed. A low score for one passage does not describe the rest of an article. Unchecked text should not be treated as human-written.
Conservative or sensitive?
Conservative mode requires stronger evidence before flagging AI-like writing. Sensitive mode flags more text, which can also increase false alarms. Neither setting guarantees the right answer.
How to use a result
- Look at the surrounding context and the original source.
- Check a longer passage when a short excerpt is inconclusive.
- Use section results to explore differences within an article.
- Do not use a score alone to accuse someone or make a consequential decision about their work.
